Ryan Gosling seems to have to have it all. Amazing good looks, successful acting career and a real life leading lady (gf Eva Mendes). But, surprisingly, Ryan had to learn how to be a player for his role as wild man, Jacob Palmer in Crazy, Stupid, Love. It turns out he didn’t really know how to sweet talk the ladies prior to this part. He needed a few pointers on how to be seductive. Shocking as it may seem, Ryan had to do his own research on how to be that guy at the bar.
He shares: “I don’t want to disappoint you, but it’s not really like the film. I just tried to follow all the rules that men’s magazines give you, like all the ways you’re supposed to dress, all the exercises you’re supposed to do, and all the things you’re supposed to say.
“What I like about the film is the philosophy. Even though Jacob’s essentially a knucklehead, at the heart of it, he’s saying: ‘Don’t use pick-up lines, don’t make lame bar banter. Just talk to them as you would talk to one of your friends. Just talk to them.’ So, I thought if there’s any wisdom in there, that probably sounds like good advice.” (thesun.co.uk)
All we have to say is that Ryan Gosling convinced us with his seduction skills in Crazy, Stupid, Love. We hardly believe he had trouble perfecting this role. But we appreciate him that much more for not actually being that sleazy bar guy! Ha!
