Electronic Cigarette Explodes – ‘Healthy’ Option Blows Up in Man’s Face
A Florida man was rushed to the hospital when his electronic cigarette exploded in his face. The frightening and unexpected scenario left him with “severe burns, missing his front teeth and a chunk of his tongue”, reports CBS News. The gruesome incident is being blame on a faulty battery in this new-age, health-conscious cigarette alternative. While the man enjoyed a few puffs from his faux cigarette, the device suddenly went off in his face like a “bottle rocket” (CBS). The cigarette brand has not been indicated and the man has not been officially identified.
Electronic cigarettes are one of many treatment methods developed for smokers who want to break the habit. These devices are designed to provide the taste and feeling that smokers crave, without any actual smoke. Best of all, they still provide a quick nicotine fix, but are supposed to reduce the dangers associated with cigarettes. I’ll let you work out the irony here for yourself.
While quitting smoking can be a difficult endeavor for those who need their nicotine fix, perhaps you should think twice about the type of quitting method you use. Here’s to hoping this unidentified man recovers quickly and switches to chewing gum as his preferred, safer method for quitting the habit. And hopefully he can still taste that gum with what remains of his charred tongue!
Was this a once in a lifetime fluke or yet another risk for cigarette smokers? Would you still be willing to try electronic cigarettes?
