With all the hype surrounding the Royals these days, there’s a new Duchess to pay attention to. She’s not from British decent, or from the Royal regime, but she’s definitely making waves on the North American music scene. You may know her for her breakout rock track ‘Phoenix’ or for her amazing title in the Guinness Book of World Records 2012 for the Longest Fingernails (female). But in an exclusive interview with The Celebrity Stone, I got an interesting look into the other sides of The Duchess, the many different angles that make her so unique!
Christy (The Celebrity Stone): You are quite an interesting person! Can you share with the readers of The Celebrity Stone a little bit about yourself?
The Duchess: Thank you, I try to be interesting. Well the things I can share are I love junk food. I should probably be seeking help for how much. I love the beach and the moon, I also think I am funny and if I’m not my kids better not say so.
Christy: It is clear that you have a passion for music. What inspired you to pursue a career in the music industry, not only creating your independent label, 621 MusicGroup but also releasing your own popular track ‘Phoenix’?
The Duchess: My dad used to wake me up when he got home from work to sing with him. He had one of those old reel to reels and I just loved the fact that I could hear myself. It did not matter that I was only two at that time, it was early that I fell in love with music.
Christy: How does it feel to have had over 75 000 views of ‘Phoenix’ on You Tube alone?
The Duchess: I appreciate it. I know that no one has to pay any attention to me at all so I am very, very grateful.
Christy: What other musical ventures do you see in your near future?
The Duchess: I would love to write songs for movies and television shows. Also for children shows.
Christy: Any dream collaborations?
The Duchess: Absolutely! I would love to do something with Rascal Flatts and Quincy Jones and anyone that does K-pop or J-pop.
Christy: So, coming to your signature look, what made you decide to grow your nails to such an amazing length?
The Duchess: It wasn’t a conscious decision to grow my nails it just happened. The conscious decision that was made was the blond hair.
Christy: Was it difficult to achieve this look?
The Duchess: The nails were easy because I never paid too much attention to them other than keep them up. [But] the hair, #33 blondest blond [takes time]. Or wigs when I’m just tired of messing with my own hair.
Christy: You’re recorded as the Guinness Book of World Records 2012 for the Longest Fingernails in the World (Female)-congrats!- how long has it taken for you to achieve this goal?
The Duchess: Well outside of normal growth it’s been 18 years.
Christy: Amazing. Has it been a long term goal to earn this World Record title or did things just come together by chance?
The Duchess: Things definitely came together by chance.
Christy: Do you have any other projects in the works?
The Duchess: I am working on completing more music this month and adding to my comic book series. My main project is trying to get people to realize that I have always been in the music business and music is so much a part of my life I would not know how to survive without it. I want people to understand I didn’t just start singing.
Christy: Wow, good luck with everything! Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
The Duchess: I want people to know that in this life you may have certain goals as we all should, just make sure that you always dream. Whatever your dream may be don’t leave it behind. That is where happiness lies…IN DREAMING.
And after this fascinating look into the perspective of The Duchess, I find myself still pondering her words. Don’t ever leave that dream behind. I like that.
